The self-defense training program was run as part of a joint project between Didi Foundation, Metropolitan Police Baudha and Police Beat Mulpani. The 5-day campaign against sexual violence was attended by 50 women and undertaken at Didi Vocational Centre in Mulpani. We acknowledge and express our gratitude to all those present including our special guests, Nagarapp Ramukh and Krishnahari Thapa, police officials and all the women who participated.
All guests and participants enjoyed refreshments of tea and cake at the Didi Swing Cafe after the event.
16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence runs from 25 November to 10 December. The 2021 global theme is “Orange the World: End violence against women now!” The international campaign was started by the Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and now runs annually.

We wish to thank Brisbane Water Rotary Club for sponsoring a Rotary District 9685 Matching Grant to re-furbish our computer lab. This entailed purchasing new tables, chairs and 15 new computers, a data projector and a whiteboard.
We had 315 women apply for computer skills training, of which only 15 could be selected. In the 3-month training program, they will develop skills in computer technology and the use of various software programs such as word, excel, graphic design, and social media. Such skills will empower these women to undertake employment in the business sector.

In alignment with the UN Sustainability Goals, the Didi Foundation created its own strategic plan to become a financially self-sustaining entity. To do this a modern and contemporary designed café was created to complement Didi’s Bakery Café.
The Didi Swing Café provides a meeting place for women and locals to have tea and cake, socialise, have a conversation and make community connections. A Mono street food cart also provides for takeaway or eat in delicious traditional Momo’s.
Once a month Didi HQ runs personal development courses for women. As part of our community engagement program, all participants are provided tea and biscuit at Didi Swing Café.
The Swing Café is proving to be a unique café to visit in Kathmandu and more importantly providing a modern service to our community of Mulpani. https://www.facebook.com/didi.swing.cafe
All profits from the Didi Swing Café go to empowering women through education at Didi Vocational Centre.

Through connections with Lane Cove Rotary Club and Rotarian Patrick Price, we were able to collaborate with CLCR Nepal. This collaboration assisted us to supply 300 school bags and educational materials to 300 disadvantaged and marginalized students in Bhaktapur, Ramechhap & Sindhuli districts.
Many of these students had never owned a backpack. They proudly trudged to school in rain, hail and shine for up to 2 hours carrying their tattered school books. As the school year starts their new books (supplied by The Didi Foundation) are protected in their bags. 2021-22 sees their educational journey off to a positive start.
