Cooking School at Didi Vocational Centre
Empowering Women in Nepal through Culinary Education
Didi’s Cooking School was initially funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Australia (DFAT) in 2018. It is dedicated to providing women in Nepal with the skills and training necessary to thrive in the hospitality sector—a traditionally male-dominated industry. Our cooking course offers fifteen women the opportunity to learn both local and international culinary skills, enabling them to pursue careers in the thriving hospitality industry.
Course Overview
Our 3-month Cooking Course provides practical, hands-on training to help women enter and succeed in the hospitality sector. The course covers a broad range of cooking techniques, food preparation skills and professional kitchen management, offering a solid foundation for a successful career.
Students May Learn:
- Basic Nepali Cooking: Master traditional Nepali dishes.
- International Cuisine: Learn diverse cooking styles, such as Indian and European cuisine, to expand culinary range.

The first stage of training takes place in Didi’s Café, where students practice their skills in a real-world kitchen/restaurant setting.
